Sonya M. Houston is a renaissance woman, blazing her own trail from Philanthropy to Filmmaking. Sonya is a content creator and a published author and television and film are her passions. She began her journey as a weekend assignment desk editor for WVEC, an ABC affiliate in Norfolk, VA. After relocating to NYC her first job was with Spike Lee working on the music video They Don’t Care About Us with the late great Michael Jackson, one of her most memorable experiences.

Sonya’s credits as an investor, executive producer, and producer include the 2023 Tony Award winning musical Kimberly Akimbo, the 2024 Broadway revival of The Wiz, the documentary Out of the Loop and independent films such as Andover which won the Orlando Film Festival Audience Choice award. Sonya executive produced, casted and worked in all areas of production for her first two films, The Stick Up Kids and The System Within.

Sonya works as a “Momager” to her son, Haven, who has worked professionally on Broadway, starring in The Lion King and currently has TV commercials on air. She has also managed her older two kids, and has a couple of young talents budding who she will be managing as well. Sonya is a graduate of Norfolk State University and lives in Manhattan.
